Middlemen Alone
Middlemen Alone
The first generation of Middlemen survived, if just barely and now their children must continue the struggle to carve out a place for the Middlemen who are still massively outnumber by two armies that only like the Middlemen a little more than the enemies they have been fighting since before time began.
Survival means they must make friends with members of both of those races because in the end while one side may seem better than the other the Middlemen were created as a bridge between the two races. With the ability to choose which side of they wish to be like.
At the center of of the chaos are three Middlemen, barely adults by the standards of the Middlemen and practically infants in the eyes of the immortal races who they face.
The first is Mylon who has the talent necessary to become the first Middleman wizard, but to do so he must learn to control the words of power before the magic those words contain drives him insane.
Second is Lornwist who besides being the greatest fighter of his generation is cocky, arrogant and looking for a fight.
Finally there is Torl the son of Ebon. The oldest of the Middlemen children to be born he is also the son of the first Middleman to die. He is an outsider without brothers and sisters his only friend is Mylon and who he has been asked to protect as the two of them slip out of the village.
The Middleman Saga is a generational story written so that each story is important but a reader can begin with any of the books without the previous novels. The actions taken in the previous series matter, but are backstory as their children step in to take their place.
This book was first published March 11, 2014 and last edited in 2018.
