Elton Gahr’s Monthly Writing update and Free Chapters
It’s been an exciting month for me. I’ve been writing a lot and had one of my short stories get to #1 in two different Amazon categories.
Today I’m taking a few moments to update everyone on my work. Writing has been going great and I’m on target for at least 4 or 5 books this year. If that seems like a lot it is, but I really love writing and my primary concern isn’t being able to write that much, it’s encouraging people to read my work.
Starting at the beginning is “The Thirteen Gates: Apprentice” that is due out in less than a month on May 7th. It’s the story of magic returning to the world after being gone for five hundred years. In it Quinn learns his mentor was, secretly, teaching him to understand magic through the books they read and discussed together.
The first two chapters are available here and you can preorder it and get two dollars off the normal price of 4.99. (The sale price is not yet visible but Amazon guarantees the lowest price on preorders.)
And when you fall in love with the characters and setting the way I did, I have good news because the second book in the series will come out shortly afterwards. The exact date hasn’t been picked yet, but hopefully it will be in July.
After that is a book I’ve been working on a long time. It’s set in the same universe as the comics that I work on with Seth Wolfshorndl. It tells three interconnected stories of superheroes in the world wars. It’s a book that I enjoyed writing, even though it can be dark. I hope to be finishing the second draft today and I will be searching for beta readers.
Finally, I have written the first draft of the next book in the Spaceship Vision series. It’s a small departure from the previous books as the human politics and wars that have been at the center of the previous two books are further in the background as the crew meets an alien species who are quickly approaching the space age when a member of their crew betrays them and escapes to the planet.
If any of these appeals to you, then I’d strongly suggest that you sign up for my free newsletter. In it I share free short stories, give out advanced news, updates on my appearances, suggest other media that I enjoy and tell some bad jokes. When you sign up, you’ll also get a free copy of “Spaceship Vision: The Impossible Dream” the first book in my space opera series.
