The Middlemen Saga
An epic fantasy like no other
Created to decide the outcome of a war older than time, the Middlemen are trapped between the Lowmen, born of those who fought against the creator and the Highmen who fought with him.
Distrusted by both sides and not strong enough to fight either, their only option is to make allies on both sides and try to survive until their ultimate destiny can happen.
In Middlemen: Born of Earth, the 12 members of the only mortal race in the world are discovered by a Highman scout named Chart being chased by a small group of Lowmen.
No longer able to hide safely in their village deep in the woods, they send two groups to meet the leaders of both the Highmen and the Lowmen. To prove to the Highmen that they are holy enough to survive while also convincing the Lowmen that they are strong enough to deserve to survive.
Middlemen: Alone takes place 18 years after the events of the first book. The Middlemen have had children. The oldest of those is Torl. He is the only Middleman child without siblings because of the death of his father before his birth.
He is tasked with taking Mylon to train with the Highmen wizards because he has heard and remembered a word of power. This proves that he can become a wizard, but will also kill him without training.
As Mylon learns that becoming a wizard will be far more difficult than simply going to the Highmen Torl explores his own path. Being given a powerful magical dagger that steals the memories of those who it cuts Torl is overwhelmed by the memories of dozens of Lowmen and frees The Nameless One. A being powerful enough to reshape the world. And the only one who he can’t use his world-shattering magic against is the person who freed him.
Middlemen: The Brother’s War begins with the warning of an attack on Middleman Village brought from Mylon, who has rushed to the village from the Wizard’s keep. But the attack is not from who anyone would expect. It is the Highmen, who have long been friends of the Middlemen and more specifically Cheen. Head of the wizard’s council and brother of Chart, The Middlemen’s most faithful ally.
But it turns out the attack, while real, is only a ploy to draw Mylon and the other wizards away from the Wizard’s Keep so that the Highmen wizard’s can take the potent magic of the place for themselves and by the time that anyone knows this it is too late to defend against the attack.
Loyalties are tested, battles are fought and powerful magic is discovered and the Middlemen continue to be forced to choose the outcome of a war they never started and never wanted to join.
