M. Night Shyamalan does the last Airbender

A live action Avatar: The last Airbender done by M. Night Shyamalan? It's hard to imagine that because it's hard for me to imagine M. Night doing anything but his own work, and my first reaction is to assume that he will feel the need to put his own spin on the already popular franchise.

While a little of that is true I suspect that after "The Happening" and "The Village" and other movies which havn't been as successful as he would like he may have chosen this franchise to break away from the type of film making he has done in the past.

This has evidently been in the works for some time and casting has already began. This includes Noah Ringer as the avatar,Nicola Peltz as Katara,   Jackson Rathbone as Sokka, and Dev Patel as Prince Zuko.

While I am willing to say that I don't think that M. Night Shyamalan will ruin this franchise with his movie, I still don't think it is a movie that in any way needs made. The cartoons were fun and well done, why remake something that's barely been finished?
